    Being Bright is Not Enough is a cursory overview of the stages within doctoral study. Though written for students, Hawley’s text pays little attention to the overall context of doctoral study before and after the Ph.D. Cleanly written and efficient, Hawley’s text is useful for those needing an introduction to the process of doctoral study. If “being enough” means “being perfect,” then you are enough is just another reason to hide your true self. You hear that kind of “you are enough,” and you think: well! I know I’m not perfect, so either I’m not enough, or I have to hide who I really am. No. You are enough means that you were made to be you, as you are, on purpose.
